Donegal Oils select Android In-Cab Computers from Touchstar Technologies

Donegal Oil Company is a family business founded in 1954. The company are trusted by thousands of customers in Donegal to deliver quality-guaranteed fuel at competitive prices and with an excellent service. With strategically located depots at Letterkenny, Killybegs and Falcarragh the company delivers almost everywhere in County Donegal.

The company has an excellent fleet of modern delivery vehicles, including mini tankers and they all have weights and measures tested and approved delivery metres and highly trained and experienced Drivers with ADR certificates and driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence).

The company delivers Kerosene, DERV, gas oil and petrol to many different sectors including domestic, commercial, marine, agricultural and retail.  

The Project

Over many years Donegal Oils has grown as a financially sound and well managed business enabling the company in invest in systems and equipment in order to serve the needs of a growing client base. As the business has continued to grow, they were looking to introduce a technology-based solution that would replace the ever-increasing amount of paperwork.

Efficient and effective operations are fundamental to delivering a first-class service, so the company needed to significantly reduce or completely eradicate paperwork which was both time-consuming and prone to human error. There were key project drivers identified by Donegal Oils, specifically the enhancement of processes, improved control and visibility, and most importantly compliance to all relevant legislation and applicable industry standards associated with bulk fuel handling. Any new technology introduced to their operation needed to re-organise and improve existing processes and enable the drivers and back office to communicate more effectively.  

Touchstar hardware and software solutions are specifically designed for the fuel distribution industry. The company has invested heavily in the development of a new range of terminals based around the Android operating system. This platform offers multiple technical benefits over previous generation Windows devices and, as a progressive organisation, Donegal Oils readily accepted Touchstar’s suggestion to upgrade their fleet hardware.
